Table scraps welcome.
The bit of steak slipped under the table. The second bowl they somehow convinced you to give them. For most dogs, it adds up. We're studying whether it has to.
We're enrolling dogs in a clinical study for a new treatment that may help them stay at a healthy weight with no diet and no change to their appetite. We'll also run bloodwork to track their cholesterol, blood sugar, and overall health throughout. Your dog keeps eating. We watch what happens.
Take a few minutes below to see if your dog qualifies, or reach out directly. We're happy to talk it through.

FAQ’s
-
It's how new veterinary medications and treatments are discovered and proven to work. Every prescription available today started with volunteer pet participants just like yours.
-
To help find better options for dogs dealing with weight gain — for their own dog, and for the millions of dogs that come after them. Plus, the free metabolic workup alone is worth it.
-
Not at all. We’re actively enrolling dogs at a healthy weight who are at risk of gaining. Catching it early is exactly what the preventative group is designed for.
-
Think of it like a wellness check for your dog’s engine. We’ll run bloodwork to check things like cholesterol, blood sugar, liver function, and kidney function — the same markers your doctor checks in you. This tells us whether our drug is not just managing weight, but actually helping your dog’s body run more efficiently. You’ll receive a full copy of the results.
-
No calorie counting on your end. Your dog will be assigned a specific food for the study, and depending on which group they're placed in, they'll either eat freely or follow the manufacturer's feeding guidelines. Either way, we handle the details.
-
Not necessarily. Dogs in the trial will receive either the investigational drug, a prescription diet or a placebo.
-
Veterinary clinical trials go through preclinical safety review and FDA oversight before any dog is enrolled. Throughout the study, your dog will be monitored closely — with regular exams, lab work, and check-ins — and rescue pain medication is always available if it's needed.
-
Your personal information will be kept confidential and de-identified wherever possible. The study veterinarian, the sponsor, and in some circumstances the FDA may access study records that identify your dog and your contact information, as required by law.
-
None. All study-related veterinary care, exams, meals, and monitoring are covered. Participants also receive compensation for their time and travel.
-
The full study runs approximately 16 weeks — a brief screening visit before treatment begins, 12 weeks of treatment, and a final follow-up visit 4 weeks after treatment ends. Visits are at screening, then at weeks 2, 4, 8, 12, and 16. You'll receive a full schedule before enrolling so you know exactly what to expect.
-
Yes. You're free to withdraw your dog from the study at any time, for any reason.
-
Your dog returns to regular care and meal plan.
